Interpretive Solutions facilitated a long-range interpretive plan for Cape Lookout National Seashore. This series of barrier islands, along with Cape Hatteras National Seashore running for more than 75 miles along the Atlantic seaboard, protects the North Carolina coast from the fury of the ocean. Interpretation at Cape Lookout National Seashore takes place in a multi-partner context, and interpretive planning for this lovely national park involved ten different partners, including school districts, the Crystal Coast Tourism Development Authority, private non-profits, Fort Macon State Park, Carolina Ocean Studies, North Carolina Aquarium, North Carolina Coastal Federation, the North Carolina Maritime Museum, the Friends of Portsmouth Island, and the Friends of Cape Lookout National Seashore. Together the partners devised an approach to interpretation in a challenging interpretive environment that promotes a variety of cooperative efforts across a broad spectrum of shared program areas.
